Properties of the Serum Elixir Oils
Revitalizing Serum for Dry and Sensitive Skin
Macadamia nut oil - helps tone aging skin and dry skin. It has a high anti-oxidant content and has proven itself to be one of the best regenerative oils available.
Avocado oil - penetrates the upper skin layers and improves elastin. It's rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2, B5, D, E minerals, protein, lecithin and fatty acids. Good for those with sensitive skin, problem skin and other irritations that require vitamin rich oil.
Kukui oil- is particularly good for dry skin. It also soothes irritation, sunburn, lesions, burns and chapped skin. It contains very high levels of the essential fatty acids and is readily absorbed into the skin.
Nourishing Serum for Normal Skin
Jojoba oil - Jojoba, is actually a liquid wax which whose chemical composition is very close to sebum, the natural hydrating fluid produced by human skin. Jojoba is also is known to act as an anti-inflammatory.
Passionfruit seed oil and red raspberry seed oil - Fruit and Berry Seed Oils have some of the highest sources of antioxidants available for skin products today. Antioxidants and essential fatty acids are known for their anti-aging properties and can also act as a barrier against allergens, free radicals, and even sun damage. Fruit and Berry Seed Oils are light in texture, penetrate the skin easily and are highly emollient.
Balancing Serum for Oily and Combination Skin
Grapeseed oil - contains vitamins, minerals, protein linoleic acid. It is good for all skin types. It does not leave a greasy feeling and is good for skin sensitivities because of its anti-inflammatory and non-allergenic properties.
Hazelnut oil - is known for its’ astringent, toning action and fast absorption. It is best for those who have oily skin, acne and combination skin types. It contains vitamins, minerals, protein, oleic acid, and linoleic acid.
Sunflower oil - contains high amounts of Vitamins A, D, and E, and Oleic acids with beneficial amounts of lecithin, and unsaturated fatty acids. It is deeply nourishing and conditioning for the skin and is easily absorbed.

Betonite clay – deeply cleans the pores and refines the skin structure. Applied as a mask, it purifies, vitalizes and boosts the cell renewal of the skin. Using clay is a good way to get rid of acne, blackheads and pimples. Your skin breathes better, and thus is healthier.
Borax - is an emulsifier, preservative, cleansing and buffering agent. Borax has the ability to soften water which results in soft, clean, healthy skin which is not clogged by the residue of soap particles.
Calendula infused rice bran oil – Calendula is traditionally used for its skin care properties to help prevent over drying, wrinkles and premature aging. It helps prevent tearing, soothes pain, stops bleeding, promotes rapid healing and prevents scarring. Rice bran oil is highly anti-oxidant and nutritious.
Castile soap - is made of pure plant derivatives. It contains water, saponified coconut and olive oils (with retained glycerin), jojoba oil, aloe vera, and rosemary extract.
Cedar- is a powerful astringent useful for protecting and caring for oily and blemished skin.
Clary sage – is astringent, antiseptic and anti-bacterial. It balances the production of sebum and eliminates over-dry or over-oily skin. It also acts as a tonic on the skin and has a mild cell regenerating effect.
Frankincense – has a rejuvenating, balancing and healing action on the skin. It is known for its’ facial toning and wrinkle smoothing properties.
Geranium - helps to create balance between oily and dry skin. It also works on the adrenal cortex, which has a balancing effect on the hormone system.
Glycerin - assists in retaining moisture in the skin. It is a natural emollient that adds a cooling effect on the skin.
Grapefruit - helps to clear congested, oily skin and also assists with acne, while toning the skin and tissues. It is very rich in Vitamin C and thus helps a great deal in strengthening the body's immune system.
Grapefruit seed extract - is used for its cleansing, anti-bacterial & preservative qualities.
Green tea – is anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. It also has the ability to inhibit collagenase, the enzyme causing degradation of collagen.
Helichrysum - is excellent for extra sensitive skin. It’s anti-inflammatory action reduces swelling. As a hydrosol it is a lightly refreshing facial mist for mature and dry skin for skin toning and healing.
Hibiscus extract - has anti-oxidant properties and inhibits elastin degradation. It helps to maintain the skin's elasticity thus offering anti-aging effects.
Honey powder - possesses natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which make it great for use in sensitive, combination, and acne prone skin types.
Hydrosols - also known as floral waters, flower waters or distillates –are pure aromatic waters produced by the steam distillation of freshly harvested plants and flowers. Through the distillation process the waters become infused with the herbal elements of the plants. Hydrosols are therapeutic, gentle, and healing. They have properties similar to the essential oils but are much less concentrated.
Lavender - will hydrate, refresh and soothe all skin types. Lavender balances oil production in the skin as well as clears blemishes and evens skin tone.
Lemongrass - is a refreshing, cleansing and stimulating tonic. It is antiseptic and astringent countering acne by decreasing oil production. It is often used as an antimicrobial and an antifungal.
Litsea Cubeba – is uplifting and revitalizing and is most valued for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties. It is astringent, antiseptic, stimulant and tonic and is commonly used for its skin toning and clarifying properties.
Milk powder - Milk is a natural exfoliant and skin softener. It is moisturizing, filled with nutrients and has been a favorite beauty aid for millennia.
Neroli (Orange blossom) - calms skin irritations and soothes sensitive skin. Good for all skin types. Hydrates dry skin.
Oats - are gentle, soothing and promote the skin's own immune functions. Oats revitalize, rejuvenate, and repair the epidermal skin barrier, and inhibits free radical formation. They are also a well known anti-inflammatory ingredient have exceptional moisturizing properties. A natural antioxidant soothing to sensitive skin that acts as soap-free cleanser.
Palmarosa – is antiseptic, has hydrating properties and is reputed to stimulate cellular regeneration. It is recommended for all skin types
Patchouli – has tissue regenerating properties, helps to rejuvenate the skin and stimulate the formation of new skin cells, while fighting infections. It also speeds up healing.
Peppermint – is cool, crisp, refreshing, and anti-bacterial. It has a stimulating, clearing effect on the skin
Ravensara - is gentle on skin while being an extremely powerful remedy that supports the immune system and helps eradicate viral infections.
Rooibos tea – is rich in anti-oxidants and zinc which is important to the skin's metabolism, It contains naturally occurring alphahydroxy acid which gently smoothes and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles. Rooibos is anti-bacterial and helpful in treating sensitive and problem skin. It cleans the skin without changing the natural pH balance and without drying. Medical studies have found that the Rooibos plant contains vitamin B5. The presence of vitamin B5 is important in treating acne and in strengthening the immune system.
Rose - has the ability to balance the skin. It has astringent, and anti-bacterial properties but does not strip the skin of moisture. Rose products can help to regulate production of sebum the skin's natural barrier and lubricant.
Rosemary - has an overall stimulating and invigorating effect that works on both mental and physical levels. The therapeutic and balancing properties of rosemary for skin are antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory and cell regenerating.
Rosewood - has a cell stimulating and tissue regenerating action on the skin which sorts out dull, dry and oily skin. It is relaxing and gently strengthening.
Sandalwood - is a powerful antibacterial and anti fungal agent The balancing properties of Sandalwood for skin are soothing, oxygenating and antiseptic.
Seaweeds- draw toxins out of your body, leaving your skin renewed, refreshed and supple. Seaweeds are rich in minerals and contains amino acids to help firm and renew tissues. They have fatty acids to help increase the fluidity of cellular membranes and to fight against inflammation. Seaweeds contain beta-carotene to help slow skin's aging, treat acne and irritated skin, as well as eczema problems.
Tea tree - is a natural antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-infection oil. It is soothing and disinfecting capable of penetrating into the lower skin layers for deep cleansing and healing. Tea tree oil is wonderful for spot treating. It clears up pimples and greatly reduces their reoccurrence due to its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory power.
Vanilla seeds - Vanilla is an exotic yet comforting ingredient. It’s presence in skin care products makes one feel nurtured and cared for.
Witch hazel - is a distillate that has astringent, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal, and anesthetic properties. It is used to clear oil from the skin, remove make-up, decrease bags under eyes, and to reduce pore size. It is beneficial for both oily, dry and mature skin.
Ylang ylang – is deeply penetrating. It has a soothing and balancing action that sorts out over-dry as well as overly-oily skin by balancing the secretion of sebum. It is also known as an aphrodisiac.
Always be careful when using any skin care products to note all ingredients and avoid any which you are allergic to. If any persistent stinging or redness occurs, thoroughly cleanse your face with cool water. Skin sensitivities can sometimes develop seemingly out of the blue. If this happens, discontinue use. If you are pregnant, epileptic, or on prescription medications it is best to consult your doctor before using essential oils.
