Aloha Everyone,Today I want to talk about my latest experiment for allergy relief. I happen to be allergic to many things which is in some ways unfortunate and in other ways a great gift. Life at Findhorn

I have been here at Findhorn for 3 weeks now. It has been a pure joy in many ways and then, of course, my stuff (patterns and issues) has been coming up which is not always so pleasant. One of my patterns is getting too busy. I try very hard to leave space in my day and in my life. Space for spontaneity, space for my thoughts, space for others, space for connection to the Divine and Nature which &hellip [click to continue reading]

Arthurs Seat

These are pictures from Arthur's Seat which is an extinct volcano located on one side of town. In some of the photos you will see parts of the city through sort of saddles in the hills. All the yellow on the hillside is the gorse in full bloom. It is such a rich beautiful yellow and smells strongly of coconut and apricot. There is also a picture of Holyrood Palace which is where the Queen stays&hellip [click to continue reading]

Walking with Ghosts

I find myself currently in a place I once was long ago. I am visiting a friend who lives in Ashland, Oregon where I also used to live off and on when I was first on my own. It was a pivotal time as it is for all of us when we first leave home to try on life on our own terms. I bonded deeply here with a few friends who have been my intimate companions through the many inconstancies of life. I look&hellip [click to continue reading]

Herbal Allies #2 Basil

(Basil ( Ocimum basilicum) Basil is one of our most common garden herbs. Who would suspect that it offers us so many healing benefits along with it's delicious addition to our pasta sauce? In old herbal lore basil is said to give courage and strength. Even today it is well known for its mood-enhancing properties. Pick up a bunch of fresh basil at the grocery store and breath in it's potent and &hellip [click to continue reading]

Herbal Allies #1 Yarrow

As an outflow from my Herbal Allies classes I decided I would post a weekly ally here for everyone. In the second class we were learning about various herbs that were first aid kits in themselves like plantain, ginger, turmeric and yarrow. Since these are such useful and easily available herbs I thought I would begin with them. So here is the first of many friends you will meet here:Yarrow - &hellip [click to continue reading]

The Medicine Buddha's Garden

I have just returned from a most amazing journey into the Medicine Buddha's Garden. The journey was guided by Floracopeia, an essential oil company based in Nevada City, CA. The company itself is an ever expanding mandala of beauty, integrity, compassion and vision. For me, Floracopeia is an operating model for navigating this paradigm shift we are going through which I call "the Greenaissance" (&hellip [click to continue reading]

Local Currency and Re-Valuation of Our Economy

This piece is so good and really gets at the heart of what local currencies work to address so I will let it speak for itself. On Kauai there is a movement afoot to introduce a local currency. Got Hydrosols?

Today I am in the process of making patchouli hydrosol. I have lovely big, fragrant, bush in my garden which seems to be at it's peak so I harvested some around noon and will be distilling in an hour or so. I thought I would just share some information about hydrosols in general as they seem to be coming into my world in a big way. Welcome to the Greennaissance

The Renaissance was a time when a new paradigm was birthed. Ideas about realities were shifting that would govern and shape the world for the next 500 years. Once again we are in such a time. This time we can be conscious and aware of how we are redefining ourselves as humans and in doing so redefine our relationship to the universe and all things. We can make choices about where we are going and&hellip [click to continue reading]

Lisa (taken from cosmeticdatabase.com) 14/5-08 at 03.50

It is often hard to know these days which products are good for us and which are not. It takes a lot of time and research to find out about many of the ingredients listed in body products and it seems like you need a PH.d in chemistry to understand what they are. Cosmetics Data Base is Environmental Working Group's Cosmetic Saftey Database. It is a place to check out information on many beauty and body products. This is a group that evaluates the saftey of the ingredients of products, rates them and posts them in their data base  providing you with information to make healthy product choices. Have a look at their website (cosmeticdatabase.com). I was quite surprised about many of the products I have been using.  I have included here some basic information found on their frequently asked question pages.  Q. No. Major loopholes in federal law allow the $50 billion cosmetics industry to put unlimited amounts of chemicals into personal care products with no required testing, no required monitoring of health effects, and  inadequate labeling requirements. Neither cosmetic products nor cosmetic ingredients are reviewed or approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before they are sold to the public.  FDA cannot require companies to do safety testing of their cosmetic products before marketing. Q. Is the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics saying that my lipstick   …<click to read>
